Fenty and Rhee Announce 2008 Summer School Plans and Tutoring Initiative

Mayor and Chancellor unveil the administration’s first summer school initiative

(Washington, DC) ---Today, outside of Dunbar Senior High School, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Michelle Rhee announced plans for summer school 2008.

The DCPS five-week summer school program will run from June 30 through Aug. 1 for elementary and middle schools. High school programs will begin June 26 and end Aug. 1.

“The Administration is committed to not only providing top notch academic guidance and instruction during the regular school year,” said Mayor Fenty. “But we’re also invested in ensuring our children receive high quality education during the summer months as well.”
